ACME Brooklyn Exhibit: 'Wythe Hotel Show' & 'This Event May Be Occurring In Another Context'
Where: Wythe Hotel / La Fabrica Gallery
Other details: On Wednesday and Thursday, ACME Brooklyn presented two new exhibits that emphasized their theme of showing artistic projects of a specific context. The two new exhibits featured emerging artists from Mexico and New York who were asked to produce new pieces for different spaces, including a warehouse (La Fabrica Gallery) and a former textile factory (Wythe Hotel). On Wednesday, guests headed up to the 6th floor of the Wythe Hotel where the bar is located. In addition to stunning views of Brooklyn and the Manhattan skyline, art pieces were present throughout the space. Thursday was more of a traditional show in La Fabrica Gallery, but the space was still a fresh change of scenery to many of the polished galleries of New York. The space was rough, but provided an interesting contrast to the delicate sculptures and refined photographs and paintings courtesy of artists like Dakota Sica, Lorena Mal, Ary Ehrenberg, and Varenka Ruiz. The show continues at the Wythe Hotel cinema tonight with an after-party at Kinfolk studios, and continues with two more celebratory parties tomorrow and Sunday.
