Koch Theater Other details: Last night at the School of American Ballet's 2014 Winter Ball, the cocktail hour commenced with high profile ballet dancers and board members in their most formal attire. Decor of the evening was elegant and clearly representative of the theme "Starry Night." Projected on the high-rise ceilings were screens showing current students and alumni performances through the year. Before the dinner course was served, there were moving speeches by key board members and faculty such as Peter Martins, the face of The School of American Ballet. After the decadent course of individual lamb pies, dancers from this year's graduating class flooded the dance floor with an impeccable performance. Following dessert, a DJ played some of today's hits as high-profile guests such as Kelly Rutherford and former dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov joined on the dance floor. Attendees gathered on the floor, celebrating their passion and devotion to the art form they all enjoyed so much. You could feel the dedication and excellence that was present in the room during the evening.
