Other details: Last night, Harper’s Bazaar and The Woolmark Company celebrated the 2014/15 International Woolmark Prize (USA) nominees with a cocktail event at the Hearst Tower. The International Woolmark Prize is an award that selects global emerging designers and identifies them for their use of Merino wool within their collections. This is the first year a menswear category has been included, and their contestants include a.a. antonio azzuolo, Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, PUBLIC SCHOOL, OVADIA & SONS, Timo Weiland, and Todd Snyder. Womenswear nominees include Jonathan Simkhai, M. PATMOS, Nonoo, Rosie Assoulin, and WHIT. Michelle Lee, Director of The Woolmark Company, announced the judging panel last night as well: Ariel Foxman, Editor-in-Chief of InStyle, Colleen Sherin, Senior Fashion Director of Saks Fifth Avenue, David Granger, Editor-in-Chief of Esquire, Eric Jennings, VP and Fashion Director of Menswear for Saks Fifth Avenue, Malcolm Carfrae, EVP of Global Communications for Calvin Klein, Steven Kolb, CEO of CFDA, and Stefano Tonchi, Editor-in-Chief of W Magazine. The winner of the prize will be announced on Monday, July 14th. Fun fact: this award has helped launch the careers of icons such as Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent.
