We Are Made in NY: A Celebration of New York City's Tech Community
Where: Gracie Mansion Other details: The We Are Made in NY: A Celebration of New York City’s Tech Community party was short and sweet. Early on, Mayor Bloomberg got up to give his speech about the importance of the tech community, and was followed by media executive Katherine Oliver, Chief Digital Officer for NYC Rachel Haot, and San Francisco mayor Edwin Lee. The speeches were all light, well-humored, but still inspirational. In the middle of Bloomberg’s closing speech, “Harlem Shake” started playing and the TV streams switched to an office scene in which the workers were all dancing the Harlem Shake. It initially seemed like a joke, but Bloomberg kept trying to talk over it and it was never acknowledged. After the speeches, the guests went back to schmoozing, while Bloomberg individually met with guests throughout the night.
