The new issues release every Wednesday and fall somewhere between a magazine and a newspaper, with a clean, uncluttered cover centered with a caricature of the featured subject. The issues were spread out around the restaurant for guests to peruse as they sipped on wine and Deleon tequila cocktails. The chic event brought out a select crowd to celebrate with publisher Jared Kushner and CEO Joseph Meyer, both of whom took turns addressing the crowd and acknowledging the New York Observer team for bringing the publication to fruition. Media elites like Martha Stewart, Katie Couric, Regis Philbin, and Donald Trump mingled with a typically downtown crowd including Leigh Lezark, Derek Blasberg, and Marina Abramovic, with their seamless merger aptly reflecting the Observer. Hotelier Sean MacPherson expressed his admiration for Roger Waters when the legendary Pink Floyd frontman subtly made an appearance, while NFL player Justin Tuck was seen chatting away with talk-show personality Regis Philbin. Leigh Lezark talked to us about traveling ahead of her trip to China for the Chanel Hong Kong couture show, before excitedly snapping a pic with Martha Stewart. Kate Couric spent much of the night catching up with Matt Lauer by the bar, where Elettra Wiedemann was also positioned in a stunning plum caped dress. Guests continued to have cocktails and bites of Casa Lever's delectable desserts well past the end of the party to hold on to the vibrant energy of the night for as long as possible.
