Where: Barneys New York
Other details: Last night, Antwerp-based designer Dries Van Noten made a rare public appearance in New York to sign copies of his new book "Dries Van Noten: Inspirations," based on the exhibit currently on display at the Musee des Artifs Decoratifs in Paris. The designer kicked off his week in NYC with a private dinner at Barneys' CEO Mark Lee's penthouse the night before, but used the book-signing as an opportunity to meet and mingle with some of his most devoted supporters. Guests had the option of purchasing the standard book as well as the limited edition cover exclusive to Barneys New York. A long line grew on the 4th floor beside the Dries Van Noten Spring 2014 collection, which took up a large section of the room. Champagne and wine were handed out as the crowd patiently waited to get their book signed, taking a moment to observe pieces from Van Noten's past collections on special mannequins in the center of the room while they waited. Guests including Leandra Medine, Robert Geller, and Rosie Assoulin were all thrilled to meet the revered designer and walk away with a signed book.
