David Foote's "A Series of Alarming Women" VIP Collector Reception
Where :SUMO Tribeca
Other details: The first floor featured a series of different women painted in black ink and contrasted with neon backgrounds. Each piece had a small blurb with the girl's name and a brief description. Every piece had a unique identity and character, with descriptions like "Mildred: She likes to party a lot and sleep around" and "Rebecca: She poisoned her fiancé." These descriptions really complemented the works, giving meaning and understanding to the different characters. Downstairs, the exhibit continued with a series of women, as well as one of Foote's Madonna and Child works. We spoke to the artist, David Foote, for a brief moment, discussing some of the pieces on the top level. When we told him our favorite piece was one of a girl with a huge snake wrapped around her, he said it was one of his favorites as well. The paintings were priced beginning at $900 for smaller pieces, $1,800 for the larger and up to $10,000 for some of the ones downstairs. All of his pieces are created with a dip pen and India ink, as well as acrylic paint on canvas.
