Kenneth Willardt "Size Does Matter" Opening Party
Where: 558 W 21st Street Other details: Out in an unnamed building by the Westside Highway and 21st Street, Kenneth Willardt presented his "Size Does Matter" opening party in collaboration with Milk Studios and VS Magazine. The artist showed his new works, which featured vibrant photographs of a nude model posing with different animals. About one of the works titled "Men Are Question Marks," which had the model hugging a dog, the artist had this to say: "Well, I'm Danish, and...that's a great Dane. So of course I had to have it in there." When asked about the inspiration for the photographs, Willardt succinctly stated "Well I love animals, and I love women." Downstairs, the entire basement walls were lined with a crumpled, metallic foil which reflected the red light, creating a unique atmosphere. The ceilings were also so low in the basement that it made guests consider the theme of "Size Does Matter." Later into the night, VIP guests headed upstairs where there was a large feast laid out for the guests. The area was also perfect for viewing the large-scale images of the works projected onto the entire building across the street.
