Other details: Last night, the Wildlife Conservation Society held their annual spring gala with the theme "An Elephants Tale" relating to the society's ongoing efforts to preserve the African elephant species and honor members who have gone above and beyond in aiding the WCS in their efforts. This year, the society honored Trustee Diane Christensen, former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and daughter and Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation Chelsea Clinton for their efforts. The event started with cocktails and appetizers with the sea lions outdoors, proceeded by dinner in a covered gazebo. Guests dined on a regional taster of African treats, including a vegetable samosa from Ethiopia, a sweet potato soup from West Africa and a black eye pea from South Africa. Speeches were made by NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio, Christensen, and Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, as they received their WCS awards in the form of elephants, with three-month pregnant Chelsea Clinton sporting black leather pants and classic red-bottom Louboutin shoes.

After the speeches, guests were served a main course of pan-seared sea bass with gastrique and pesto and a dessert of ginger chocolate mousse and green tea cake in a spring terrarium. Meanwhile, the next generation of the conservation society began entering for an after party with DJ Chelsea Leyland. While members of the conservation society finished their meals, they headed onto the dance floor to join their fellow younger members. Even Hillary and Bill Clinton made a short stop on the dance floor prior to leaving for the night.
