Other details: Last night, Uniqlo celebrated its #SPRZNY collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art. Situated on the second floor of Uniqlo’s 5th Ave flagship, the SPRZ NY shop boasts limited edition pieces inspired by iconic artists such as Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Jackson Pollock and Ryan McGinness. Artists Jack Pierson, Lawrence Weiner and Sarah Morris also contributed to the capsule collection and were on hand to fete the exciting project. The collection’s pieces were framed and displayed across Uniqlo’s expansive walls to mirror the appearance of an art gallery. [Jack Pierson, Olivier Zahm] Tadashi Yanai, Founder and President of Uniqlo’s parent company Fast Retailing, eagerly greeted guests as they made their way up the sweeping staircase. Visionaire’s Cecilia Dean swung by to check out the innovative space, chatting MoMa PS1 Director Klaus Biesenbach. CFDA’s Steven Kolb stopped by to support the Japanese mega retailer, as did Theory CEO Andrew Rosen. Ariel & Shimon Ovadia, of menswear label Ovadia & Sons, caught up with Rosen and fellow 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Tim Coppens. Photographer Michael Avedon and Mazdack Rassi admired the multi-media presentation from the sidelines. Purple’s Olivier Zahm snapped his signature photos in between chatting with participating artists Jack Pierson and Sarah Morris. Uniqlo’s SPRZ NY shop even features its own in-house starbucks, which refueled guests throughout the night. New artists will be rotated into the collection every three months.
