Other details: Last night, Purple Magazine threw their biannual Purple Party at Chez Andre. The event, which is held in collaboration with a selected designer, was co-hosted by Theory designer Olivier Theyskens. It was also the first time the event wasn't hosted at the Boom Boom Room, which gained its reputation in part because of parties like Purple. As guests trickled down from Narcissa, where the private dinner was held, the impact of the smaller venue was immediately noticeable. Unlike other Fashion Week events, people came here to drop their inhibitions—which they did exuberantly—in a small room with friends. As soon as Glenn O'Brien descended the stairs with Mazdack Rassi and Johan Lindeberg, the three men went to the bar to have a celebratory shot of Absolut Elyx. Derek Blasberg, Dorian Grinspan, and the Hilton sisters formed a small group that danced away to tunes by L.A-based DJ Myles Hendrick, while Waris Ahluwalia and Harley Viera Newton spent little time without companions, letting loose to hip-hop jams. Orlando Bloom was slightly hidden in a fedora, but made no other attempts of inconspicuousness, as he was fully engaged with the crowd and his friends.
There was a slight hiccup when a man insulted a patron to the anger of 3 ladies who didn't hold back on their opinion of him. A photographer unassumingly readied his camera when the ladies urged him not to photograph the man, at which point a bouncer escorted the man out and peace was restored. Andre Saraiva spent some time mixing tracks a the DJ booth in front of new posters he created with artist Maurizio Cattelan, and mentioned he's cutting his NYC stay short to travel again this week. Olivier Zahm went in and out of the club to pose for pictures with legendary photographer Mario Testino, as well as take photos of the beautiful women straddling him in his signature fashion.
