Last Night's Parties: Partying For America Over The Long Weekend

by Mara Siegler · July 5, 2011

Not everyone left the city this long weekend. Plenty stuck around to enjoy the 4th of July festivities, BBQ with friends, drink for liberty, watch competitive eaters gorge themselves on nearly inedible meat and watch the Macy's Fireworks. Check it out!

    Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating

    Where: Coney Island

Other Details: Five-time champion Joey "Jaws" Chestnut took home the Mustard Belt again this year by gorging himself on  62 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas ate 40 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes and won the first-ever pink Pepto Bismol Belt in the women's division. Meanwhile, renegade Takeru Kobayashi set an unofficial new world record by downing 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes on a rooftop in the Flatiron District. Disgusting and yet, glorious. [Via]
