Champagne in hand, guests explored the sprawling studio and congratulated the artists, who continued to paint, sculpt, sketch, and create throughout the night. Every floor featured a different kind of musical entertainment, with such varying instruments as guitars, cellos, xylophones, ukeleles, and even a glow-in-the dark accordion. There were surprises at every turn. Masked ladies modeled jewelry by Von Cleef, one of the Ball's sponsors, while bodyguards kept a vigilant watch on their diamond-studded charges. On the top floor, guests could literally jump into the artwork, and pose inside live recreations of famous paintings such as Magritte's "The Son of Man."
