Where: Hammacher Schlemmer Other details: Last night, Hammacher Schlemmer celebrated their reopening with a party. The event celebrated the first time their products would be available for purchase since the floor-to-ceiling renovation of the space. The place was packed with guests of all ages and styles, some in snazzy suits and others in sneakers. People mingled and looked at the products and hardware, including a giant stuffed teddy bear, a stuffed dragon, a retro gumball machine, a coin-operated horse, and a remote-controlled plastic tarantula. People enjoyed their drinks and hors d'oeuvres under a giant hanging orca and hovercraft, which was a quirky take on the American Museum of Natural History. The highlight of the event turned out to be an airplane simulation. With a complete digital control panel, guests were able to simulate a Boeing 737 leaving from O'Hare and flying over the Great Lakes.
