Where: The Living Room at the W Hotel Times Square
Who was there: Cristina Salmastrelli, Tze Chun, Chrissy Crawford.
Other details: The Affordable Art Fair was held in The Living Room at the W Hotel in Times Square last night. The fair exhibited a few works of art from various galleries, including Elisa Contemporary Art, Emmanuel Fremin Gallery, Rebecca Hossack Gallery, Uprise Art and S. Artspace Gallery. The space was dimly lit, with art pieces displayed throughout the lounge. We spoke with fair director Cristina Salmastrelli, who said that the collections had the theme of "Energy of New York," and that the pieces were all between $100 and $10, 000. She joked that the term "affordable" was "relative." Tze Chun, the founder of Uprise Art, a next-generation gallery that allows members to pay for their artwork in installments, showed us the piece "Me and My Read Head," by artist Charlie Engman, who was not in attendance. We also ran into Chrissy Crawford, the founding director of Little Collector, which features artwork for kids, and Art Star, an online gallery with accessible prices.
