McSorley's Old Ale House
Date Opened: 1854
McSorley's is the oldest Irish tavern in the city, making it a historic New York bar. This ale-house was single-sex until 1970 when the owners were taken to court, finally allowing women to enter the bar. Some of the bar's most notable decorative pieces include the original Wanted poster for Lincoln's assassin and Babe Ruth's famous farewell photo.
