While wandering above 14th street may occasionally be worth it, even the snobbiest New York foodies have plenty of options downtown. Less stuffy, and certainly more fun, these fancy fine dining destinations and social hot spots are both classy and cool with a capital C, and they're definitely worth the wait for a reservation.
