The non-profit organization, Music Unites, is dedicated to supporting emerging and established musicians across all genres, while supporting music educational programs in underserved communities and underwriting free public concerts. Their philanthropic focus for the first year is the Music Unites Youth Choir (MUYC) and allowing its members access to well-known cultural venues for practice and performances via a special partnership with the Young Audiences New York (YANY).
Through this partnership with YANY as well as Education Through Music, MU brought artists Jaicko and John Forte to the MUYC and inner-city schools St. Marks and IAB. Also during the past year, the MUYC made their debut at Carnegie Hall in a tribute to The Who where everyone from Patti Smith to Bobby McFerrin performed. Independently, the organization launched both a Classical Music Series and the Women’s Empowerment Movement with great success.
Music Unites held additional benefit concerts with artists such as Blue October, Tamamara, Chester French, Peter Bjorn & Johnn, Howie Day, Mark Ronson, Daniel Merriweather, Sting and Melanie Fiona and in prestigious cultural venues such as Lincoln Center and The U.N., even a private performance with Joshua Bell at his residence.
