Over 1,000 art enthusiasts celebrated the New Museum's Triennial with a VIP Preview of The Ungovernables, a group exhibition encapsulating the revolutionary movements of the 1960s and 1970s, and an After Party at The Top of the Standard, where burlesque artist Dita Von Teese surprised the Ungovernable guests with a sultry striptease.

A collection of luminaries from the worlds of art, media, and finance sipped Stoli cocktails and Brooklyn brews while admiring over five floors of artwork from at least 34 artists and collectives, including Mounira Al Solh, Jonathas de Andrade, Minam Apang, Julia Dault, Abigail DeVille, and Hu Xiaoyuan.  Many have never before been exhibited in the United States.

Afterward, guests, among them Anthony Haden-Guest, Thelma Golden, Wu Tsang, Eungie Joo, Lynette Yiadom Boakye, Karen Wong, Elena Soboleva, and Darian Darling, gathered at The Top of the Standard for cocktails, dancing, and live entertainment from The Hot Sardines, a hot jazz/french chanson/gutbucket blues band, who delighted the crowd with an impromptu tap dance number on the bar.

And after the afterward, Dita Von Teese caused quite a "stir" at The Standard for a special Valentine's Day Party, performing a burlesque number that concluded in an oversized martini glass, giant olive included. (Alas, it was only filled with water.)  Notables Amy Sacco, Peter Davis, Ladyfag, Catherine Malandrino, Hanuk Kim, David Foote, Joey Jalleo, and Darrell Hartman were in attendance, sharing the love for Ms. Von Teese's latest exhibition.

The Ungovernables is on display until April 22 at the New Museum, 235 Bowery. For more information, go HERE.
