Come equipped with conversation topics
If there's one thing we've learned by being chronic partygoers, it's that (surprise!) polite conversation is boring as hell. Sure you can shift gears depending on who you're talking to, but sticking to safe spaces won't encourage any engaging talk. Be the person who went there when speaking. Politics can be tricky, of course, but the topic sure does bring out some fire in people. If you don't want to go that far (although we certainly encourage it), throw out some random fact you just stumbled across on Wikipedia or something and let it go from there.
