Last night, news broke that Rick Genest, aka Rico The Zombie Boy, had passed away from an apparent suicide.
The 32-year-old creative became famous for his distinct tattoos, and inspired the likes of Nicola Formichetti and Lady Gaga, who scouted him to star in her "Born This Way" video. The fashion and music muse, who was often seen both on the runway and front row at Fashion Weeks around the world, was also a musician and performer in his own right, launching a rock n' roll project called Zombie Boy vs. The world back in 2013, which we interviewed him about HERE.
Both Lady Gaga and Formichetti took to Twitter to express their condolences.
Absolutely heartbroken. Rest in Power, Zombie Boy. Sending all my condolences and love to Rico’s family and friends. If you ever need help, reach out. 1-800-273-8255 is the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You’re not alone pic.twitter.com/AuapCxj2FU

The suicide of friend Rick Genest, Zombie Boy is beyond devastating. We have to work harder to change the culture, bring Mental Health to the forefront and erase the stigma that we can’t talk about it. If you are suffering, call a friend or family today. We must save each other. pic.twitter.com/THz6x5JlpB
