Uncle Vanya Cafe
Russians have a penchant for naming things after their writers, and Uncle Vanya is no exception. The play by Anton Checkhov for which the cafe is named is about a professor who visits a rural estate with his much younger wife with intentions to sell it in order to pay for a life in the city. We can't tell whether the decor of this Midtown establishment, with it's lampshades and plush pillows, is meant to reflect a rural Russian estate, but the name is quaint nonetheless. Enjoy live music here every night at 7 pm.
