Who should join: Anyone who can afford the $14,800 monthly fee. Though Japanese applicants are only allowed to seek membership once every 3 years, when the 20-30 slots they're competing for open. In addition to 659 Japanese members, the club has 194 ex-pat members and 8 honorary members from Japan's imperial family.
