Louis Vuitton has crafted luggage for some of the world's most iconic travelers: renowned writers, royalty, business tycoons, artists, movie stars, and more have traversed the globe with an LV trunk by their side. Take a peek inside their lives, and learn the history of the luxury brand, with a new iPhone app: "Louis Vuitton 100 Legendary Trunks."
A supplement to a book of the same title, the trunks, really, are just the beginning. The app provides over 1,000 illustrations and unpublished documents, as well as 40 videos and sound clips, which chart the design evolution of the world's most valuable brand from 1854 to present day.
Along the way, discover the custom-made creations for the international luminaries that have sported the LV luggage, a list that includes Savorgnan de Brazza, Sharon Stone, Ernest Hemingway, Queen Elizabeth II, Jeanne Lanvin, Damien Hirst, and Takashi Murakami.
The price? At $18.99, it may be one of the most affordable products Louis Vuitton manufactures this year. It's also only a fraction of the price for the book, which retails for $125.
This isn't the first digital creation for Louis Vuitton. The designer recently created an app showcasing its collaboration with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, which is perhaps a sign of a growing trend toward applications as fashion accessories.
