8. Roosevelt Island to become a college campus?! This would be the coolest thing to happen since the Highline. Mayor Bloomberg is taking submissions for NYC tech campus proposals for Roosevelt Island. The likely winner will be either Cornelle/Technion or Stanford University. - 4 acres of geothermal wells (a total of 400 wells) which will be used to heat and cool the campus
