Reunion Island

Reunion IslandThis tiny French island east of Madagascar may sound fictional, but it is first named “Reunion” in honor of the union between the National Guards of Paris and the Marseille revolutionaries in 1792. This tiny island is home to two volcanoes: the active Piton de la Fournaise in the East which bears strong resemblance to those in Hawaii, and the extinct Piton des Neiges, which is the highest point of the island at 10,000 feet. Of course, being an island near Madagascar and Mauritius, Reunion Island is home to stunning blue waters, healthy coral reefs, and some of the most pristine beaches in the world. This makes the island the perfect holiday for the adventurer who loves both land and sea equally. [Photo via @babychips]
