Xuankong Temple (Hanging Temple), China
Hanging Temple is unique in design and ideology. Built into the cliffs of Shanxi, this is the only temple in China that is endorsed by Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. This temple looks like it has been engulfed by the mountain it is built upon, with only a very small percentage of the temple protruding out of the rock. Made up of 40 halls that are linked by questionable pathways alongside the cliff wall, Xuankong truly is a daredevil adventurer’s dream.
