Get Around On Bike
Only 14-miles long and 3-miles wide, still old-fashioned in its lack of neon signs and fast-food restaurants, home to very few chains, and the absence of any car rental locations, getting around on bike ride seems to make more sense than bringing your car to the island. Rent a bike at Nantucket Bike Shop, located near the harbor in town, and don't forget to also rent a Nantucket basket to attach to the bike, pretty and useful for throwing in your towel and sunscreen for the beach.
