Kramerbooks and Afterwards Cafe - 1517 Connecticut Ave NW
As a confined cafe set in the back of a tiny book store just north of Dupont Circle, this farm-to-fork Connecticut Avenue restaurant and bar is as unique in setting as it is in menu. While Kramerbooks and Afterwards Cafe is usually frequented by brunch-goers on weekends, this stylishly hip eatery also stays open late to serve the enormous (but absolutely necessary) piece of chocolate cake and "one last drink" desperately desired by so many Washingtonians after last call.
