DC Fashion Takeover At Ann Taylor
With popular TV shows such as "Scandal", "The Americans", "VEEP", "House of Cards", and the recent, "Madame Secretary", it's safe to say that DC has been in the Hollywood limelight lately only perpetuating the growth of the city's new found stardom. But one thing these television series have drawn attention too is not only DC's political nature, but the city's distinct fashion sense.
On Wednesday, September 17th, Mikki Halpin, editorial director at Refinery 29, led a fun and fluid discussion with costume designers Tom Broecker, designer for "House of Cards" Season 1, and Jenny Gering, designer for "The Americans," to celebrate Ann Taylor's DC Fashion Takeover, curated by Gering herself! During the panel discussion Brocker flawlessly described the work of being television series designer as "styling with intent." Both designers openly discussed their career paths and how they ended up their coveted positions, while letting the audience in on what is like to style leading ladies Kerri Russell (The Americans) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).
