The shopping event of the year is coming up a week from Monday, the District Sample Sale.
DC's best boutiques come together to unload their merchandise and sell it for next-to-nothing, and the only catch is...you have to buy a ticket that goes straight to charity. This year's benefactor is WEAVE.
VIP ticket holders get to pick through the goods an hour early, and get a huge VIP gift bag that is notorious for being one of the best.
It's not just a shopping event, but it's also a social event. There are a lot of VIP Washingtoniennes that come to the event every year. The event was founded by Liberty Jones, Barbara Martin, Jayne Sandman, RHODC's Mary Amons and Shannon Haley. Mary Amons' castmate Lynda Erkiletian is on the committee, and former Miss DCs like Kate Michael and Kate Marie Grinold are also on the committee, as are socialites Katherine Kennedy, Ashley Taylor and Coventry Burke Berg.
