Gifts and Perks
Bill Clinton and Monica exchanged modest gifts with each other. She gave him a tie, books, a framed poem, and other things. He gave her a hat pin, souvenirs from Martha's Vineyard, books, and broaches. Mimi, however, got way more perks. She was flown around the country (sometimes with the White House team) and stayed in posh hotels, which made the actual press secretaries really jealous. JFK also gave her diamond hairpins, an autographed photo, and a $300 dress after shopping with his money in New York City (but he was disappointed with how conservative the dress was).
