Why: Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, is inspired by the traditional France music festival. Together, the Alliance Francaise, Hotel Sofitel, and Art Soiree will host a day long summer journey across the musical worlds. Taking place at Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square, the festival will transform it into a haven where musicians, music lovers, artists, food lovers, families, locals and guests, will collide for an all-day musical experience, filling the city with an outpouring of rhythm and sound. It will provide a unique opportunity for all Washingtonians to be a part of a worldwide celebration that began in France and now takes place every year on June 21st in hundreds of countries around the world.
