Wine Riot Returns To DC This Saturday!

by guestofaguest · May 1, 2012

“This is not your parents’ wine tasting.” That’s what Second Glass co-founders Tyler Balliet and Morgan First wants young Washingtonians to know about Wine Riot DC, the wine tasting event and national phenomenon that teaches the millennial generation about wine in a fresh, fun and casual environment. Wine Riot returns to D.C. on Saturday, May 5, in two sessions (1-5pm and 7-11pm) at Daughters of the Revolution Constitution Hall (DAR). Tickets are available for $50.

Americans are drinking more wine than ever before, and today’s 21-35 year olds are leading this movement.

Winos and wine newbies alike are invited to sip more than 250 different wines from every region of the world, from California Cabernets to German Rieslings to Argentinian Malbecs, all while enjoying  DJs, photo booths and more.  And the best part?  Second Glass’s groundbreaking mobile app makes it easy to remember every wine you try.

The free Second Glass app has a pre-loaded list and image of every wine at the Riot.  Just mark “like it” or “love it” and your favorite wines will be saved on your phone forever, and you can access the list later on your computer or mobile phone.  Download the app for iPhone in the iTunes Store or point your Android, Windows or BlackBerry web browser to m.secondglass.com.

New to the world of wine?  Second Glass offers educational and free, 20-minute Crash Course Wine Seminars.  Throughout each session, Rioters can stop in for a complimentary guided tasting and head back to the main floor equipped with tips and the know-how to help them boldly face any wine list, party or store.

Wading through a sea of hundreds of wines can be quite the challenge, but any wine-related questions can be answered by the Wine Intelligence Unit (WIU).  These seasoned D.C. winos are at the disposal of all rioters, armed with extensive knowledge on everything involving fermented grapes.  No question is too basic or simple, and no request is too large for these experts.

The ticket price for Wine Riot DC includes sample size pours of any and all wines at the event.  Anything but pretentious, Wine Riot DC is the coolest way for wine drinkers to enjoy, sip and learn about wine.  With Second Glass’ integration of mobile technology into wine tasting, the possibilities are endless, and the wine never stops flowing.
