Jake Emen, Man Talk Food

Jake EmenTo give: I originally gained an affinity for a fine Scotch from my father. This year, I'll be excited to return the favor with something special. He's always been a steadfast fan of single malts, particularly from the Speyside region, which includes The Macallan. Their new premium release, The Macallan Rare Cask, is a perfect celebratory pour for the holiday season, made from a carefully chosen selection of less than 1% of the brand's sherry casks. To receive: As a devotee to all things Japanese whisky, I'm eager to get my hands on as much as the good stuff as possible. The new Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a wonderful expression of the Japanese style, smooth yet complex; floral and fruity, but also showcasing some spice. Now though for the first time a Scotch has been finished in Japanese Mizunara oak casks. So while I'd be more than happy with Japanese Harmony, the dreamer in me hopes that somebody out there is fond enough to pony up for the new Bowmore Mizunara Cask Finish, a unique blend of Bowmore's Islay peat and smoke, with the spicy oak influence of the Mizunara. At $1,000 a pop, I'll likely be left dreaming. macallansuntorybowmore
