Interview: Wendy Ezrailson Founder Of Reddz Trading
Wendy Ezrailson is not a newcomer to DC fashion. From the 70s util 2006 she and her husband, known as Izzy, owned and operated the retail stores Commander Salamander and Up Against the Wall in Georgetown. Both locations were consistently referred to as eclectic and eccentric and known nationally for their famous clientele (such as Cher, Andy Warhol and more). They now own the popular Reddz Trading designer retail stores in both Georgetown and Bethesda which both supply Washingtonians with designer duds often coming from famous origins (but she'll never tell who!). Check our interview with the woman known affectionately as "Red" and find out why we give Wendy LEGEND status.
You are known for bringing high quality and on-trend fashion to DC. Tell us how you became a local style setter?
I’ve had retail locations in Washington, DC since the 1970s and I’ve always looked to identify unique designs and current trends to offer Washingtonians that they can’t find elsewhere in the city. I’ve been known for having my hair in various color shades and cuts since I started and was often found in the Washington Post, and even the NY Times, as I was known for my eccentric fashion statements and playful take on high-end design. For the past several years I’ve settled on my bright red hair. It’s become a signature trademark associated with me brand – hence the title of my stores Reddz Trading.
