Door to Door Fashion

Tala RaassiWhen did you first decide that you had a passion for fashion? And how did that passion transform into designer swimwear? I grew up in Tehran. As a little girl I never saw mainstream designer boutiques or department stores. I never watched fashion shows on TV and I had to cover myself when I went to school. In a way it was very hard for me to show my individuality through my style. My mother had a lot of experience with creating clothing and had formal training as a young girl. I grew up watching her make all sorts of cool stuff in the house and was always fascinated by it and wanted to create. But as a traditional path I thought that I needed to become a lawyer, doctor or a rocket scientist... It wasn’t until I moved to the US where I realized that I didn’t want to go to law school and I wanted to start a fashion line to empower women to follow their dreams. I have always loved swimwear and on a fashion buying trip to Sao, Paolo Brazil I was blown away by the beauty of the swimwear and thought that the U.S. market was missing that and needed it. So I started Dar Be Dar.
