Other details: On Tuesday, July 22nd event extraordinaire, Andre Wells, helped turn the Newseum into a soul hall paying tribute to the great James Brown. Comcast NBCUniversal hosted a panel discussion and special screening of the upcoming Universal Pictures’ film “Get on Up." Before the screening and panel, guests were able to walk the red carpet at the Newseum entrance way, pose for photographs, and meet and greet with actor Chadwick Boseman and director Tate Taylor. The pre-screening also featured drinks, small bites, a preview of the movie on the Newseum's massive hanging screen, and a DJ playing only the good soul music of Mr. Brown. For the screening and panel, guests were treated to popcorn, snacks, candy, and drinks in the Newseum's large screening auditorium. The discussion featuring Boseman, Taylor, Al Sharpton, and MSNBC’s The Cycle host, Touré, centered around the film and diversity in Hollywood. The conversation lasted about an hour and right after, the panel was dismissed from stage and joined the audience in watching the feature film. "Get On Up" hits theaters nationwide on August 1st.
