Other details: Hosted by the Women In Wishes Leadership Council, the goal of the fundraiser was to raise $7,500 which is the average cost of granting a wish for a child. As member of the Women In Wishes Leadership Council, LaRhonda Burley partnered with Victoria Michael to put together the event. Together, the two successfully turned a night of baseball into an opportunity to raise money and awareness for Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. The Nationals donated a portion of ticket sales for all tickets purchased using the code "WISH" for
Friday's game. Cantina Marina donated 20% of all food & beverage sales
on Friday to Make-A-Wish and The Kimsey Foundation made a donation to meet the $7,500 wish threshold. In addition to
Friday's fundraising efforts to grant a future wish, before the beginning of the game, the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic revealed on the Nationals' field that 5 year-old Ellie Whitfield (a lymphoid leukemia patient
), and her family will travel to Disney World next summer.
