In her writing
Carrie Fisher was a noted Hollywood "script doctor," and published 8 books of both fiction and nonfiction throughout her career. Her first novel, Postcards from the Edge was indeed semi-autobiographical, exploring the life of a young actress after succumbing to a drug overdose. Her following works followed suit, including Wishful Drinking and 2016's The Princess Diarist, in which she candidly discusses struggles with mental health, addiction, and life in the spotlight.
