Do you feel the luxury bridal market is mirroring the ready to wear market? Whereas everyone wants something fast and cheap now as opposed to buying a few pieces for more money. It’s become quantity over quality. Bridal companies are branching out and doing smaller, more affordable lines and are planning their weddings only months in advance. Has this impacted your brand?
If you want a memorable moment, you want a memorable dress. Even with our collection Gala we don’t mass produce. We’re very niche in this market. Our customers are a little different.
You’re working on a RTW collection and taking a step outside of the couture world. What prompted you to do this?
There’s no difference today between couture, 'Prêt-à-Porter' or 'Prêt-à-Porter' de luxe, it’s all mixed. Even the committee of the couture is searching for a way to update this traditional concept because it isn’t relevant anymore for today. Couture clients are younger today, they want something fresh, less serious. It’s not a dressing down, but fashion evolves. '50s, '80s, '90s naming and ideals have changed - they’re not current.
