Par Stromberg, "RETROspect"

Par Stromberg, "RETROspect"
If you're tired of rain and yearning for snow, WeSC is hosting a special preview party tonight for Pär Strömberg, an oil painter renowned for his dark, frosty, Swedish landscapes. As art critic Daniël Bertina explains, "the Swedish landscapes of Strömberg seem to be a homage to the old worlds and gods. Mystic and natural forces unfold in his work and contrast with our daily lives in which speed, technology and consumerism dominate." The collection is featured in Charles Banks Gallery’s RETROspect, an exhibit that pairs abstract artists like Strömberg with 19th-century woodworking from the Snyder collection in order to offer a fresh perspective on artistic periods. January 12 at Charles Bank Gallery, 196 Bowery, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For more information, go HERE. [Photo via]
