Once upon a time, John Lennon said that his band [The Beatles] were more popular than Jesus. The comment generated such an uproar that his eventual assassination was linked to the quote. Following his 2005 Grammy win for “Jesus Walks,” Kanye went one step further and posed as Christ himself on the cover of Rolling Stone - thorn crown and all. “The Passion of Kanye West” boldly emblazoned in red, drew attention to the man who has, on multiple occasions, called himself a God. “You want me to be great, but you don’t ever want me to say I’m great."
Blasphemous? Perhaps. Iconic? Definitely. *Kanye Shrug*
