4. Pressed Juicery
...Which brings me to Pressed Juicery. Much like the hype and devotion to Earthbar, this is another trendy place to get ripped off for a false sense of feeling healthy that celebrities and tastemakers have adopted as part of their regimen. They sell nutrient-rich raw juices for $6.50 a pop, three- and five-day detox blends and my personal favorite, Chlorophyll H2O for $5, which is exactly what it sounds like: water, but with Chlorophyll, the molecule that turns sunlight into energy for plants. What it does for sentient life, arguably capable of independent thought, is yet to be determined, but so far, nothing. Listen, as far as these detox blend liquid-only diets go, I have news: you lose weight when you stop consuming food. It's called an eating disorder. Likewise, instead of drinking 16 ounces of pure carrot juice, why don't you just eat some carrots? Also, drinking stuff with lots of organic natural stuff and chlorophyll, aloe vera, or coconut in it doesn't make you fit or skinny. Exercising does. But step right up and get your very own bottle of plant water at one of Pressed Juicery's three locations, the WeHo one which recently opened it right next door to Fresh Corn Grill. 8714 Santa Monica Blvd West Hollywood, 90069 310.854.4407 Photo [via]
