Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones

Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones
Actors Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones began dating in 1999 after meeting in Deauville, France. He reportedly used the bold pickup line "I want to father your children," and his audacity paid off. The pair were married a year later in November of 2000. When they officially announced their wedding, many doubted that it would last because of their 25 year age difference, but there was no stopping these lovebirds. They were married in an extravagant ceremony at the terrace room of The Plaza, which reportedly cost $1.5 million dollars. Douglas flew in a 40-member choir from Wales to honor his wife's roots. The ceremony opened with the choir walking down the isle, followed by Catherine's mother who carried the couple's baby son, Dylan Douglas. Catherine made her grand entrance on the arm of her father, carrying a bouquet of white peonies and roses. She wore a beaded, ivory gown by Christian Lacroix. The dress featured a Chantilly lace train and a low-cut bodice. The non-denominational ceremony was officiated by New York Chief Judge Judith Kaye and lasted 20 minutes. The reception included performances by classical violinists, Art Garfunkel, Jimmy Buffett, and Bonnie Tyler. The menu included New England clam chowder, terrine of foie gras, rack of lamb, and lobster - yum! For dessert, a 10-tier vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and thousands of sugar flowers was served. The couple spent their wedding night in The Plaza's Astor Suite and they honeymooned in Aspen.
