Fixed Price

Union Square MarketI never haggle. I think if you knew how hard it was to make money in agriculture, you probably wouldn't do that. People say, 'Wow, that's high priced.' But the cost of gas, and the cost of the labor on the farm. Farmers are really well educated and savvy, they know their acres and their operating costs. It comes down to just like pennies on the dollar what they make. One misconception about some of the boutique-ey looking farms is that they're going to be really expensive, when actually, some things are pretty affordable. You can also find some really unique things at these farms, and what they have, the flavor is so incredible. So don't be dissuaded by the linen table cloths. [Photo via Bea Helman]
