The Nineties

The Nineties
By the 1993 a decade had passed since AIDs awareness and although the US Government had just passed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" gay rights were front and center at Capitol Hill. In 1997 the 16th annual International Association of Lesbian and Gay Pride Coordinators Conference was met with an enormous amount of participation from international Committees. From that point on the Gay Rights Movement continued to gain speed.  In 2000 Vermont passed the first law to allow Civil Unions and Registered Partnerships among LGBT couples. Then in 2004 a long sought victory was achieved when Massachusetts legalized gay marriage. [Photo via]
