Interview: Michael Fragoso, The 22-Year-Old Behind The Weekly Les Garcons Party At Le Baron

Where did you get the idea that you wanted everyone to dress up? This idea of everyone in bowties- where did that come from? Well in New York, you have two types of events really. You have those weekly events that are very casual and sometimes even grungy, like the Westways. Then you have the events that are galas. There's this place in between where they meet- the idea of a gala and the idea of a local night. Does that remind you of gala after parties? No, it reminds me of Paris! It reminds me of how people care about what they look like. I enjoy putting on a blazer, putting on a nice dress shirt, maybe a bowtie and looking like I give a shit. So I thought that maybe there are other people like me and I could put something together where those types of people could come together and enjoy themselves.

Even though I wanted it to be a gay night, I never wanted it to be specifically a gay night so that's why I called it Les Garcons, the boys. It's a boys night.
