Flora Theden, Marched in NYC

I’m originally from the South and I grew up surrounded by casual, widely accepted racism and sexism. Our president, through his words and actions, emboldens and encourages people with that worldview. He uses words like “nasty” and “pussy” to demean women, but the March, and the movement that it represents, uses them as tools for empowerment. Being ambitious women, opinionated women, sexual women - none of that makes us nasty or less-than. I simply cannot stand by and allow these regressive ideologies to find a safe haven. That’s why I marched.
