Beware The Slenderman

Oh, Creepypasta, the nights we've spent sucked into your myths and ghost stories at sleepovers. But the worst, and most lasting of your tales has undoubtedly been the Slenderman. Cue goosebumps. Making its world premiere at SXSW, Beware the Slenderman is an HBO documentary that dives into the horrors of the internet age, and the powerful influence it could have on youth... and mental illness. In 2014, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, two 12-year-old girls, stabbed their friend and left her in the woods, blaming the crime on the web-bred apparition, the Slenderman. Irene Taylor Brodsky's engrossing film takes the tale of true events and puts it into startling context, combining a sense of a true crime thriller and deep insight into psychology.
